About

 Bess Marie

I served in the United States Marine Corps for 26 years. Yes, you read that right, little ole me was in the biggest boy’s club in the USA. Hence the name The Crafty Jarhead.  I’ve gone to six countries and have been stationed at 15 bases – some of them twice.  That’s a lot of packing, moving, and unpacking!  I retired and currently live in Virginia.

I have been crafting for most of my life...

I discovered my love of origami while stationed in Japan. My daughter was born there and I needed something easy while attending a newborn.  I had a big stash of origami paper and cute little things I made with it to give away when returning to the States.

While deployed to Turkey, there was a lot of empty time so we either put together puzzles or colored.  Coloring was so relaxing and meditative.  I still go back to it from time to time.

When I came back from the deployment in Turkey, I was introduced to scrapbooking. So long boring albums! Boy, did we have a lot of fun getting together and scrapping!!!

When I hung up my dog tags and put away my combat boots, I found digital crafts. I loved getting together with others and crafting.  While I enjoyed digital crafts, there was something that I was missing.

In 2019, I discovered paper crafts again as well as little houses.  They look so cute all over the place.  I knew I had to add both to my craft collection and look forward to sharing them with you.

And the rest, as they say, is history!

Set your sights high and go after it!  If I can do it, so can you!
